First Scientific Consulate Swiss House for Advanced Research and Education, SHARE The Consulate of Switzerland, known as the Swiss House for Advanced Research and Education (SHARE) in Cambridge, Massachusetts (near Boston) is the only foreign representation of Switzerland dedicated primarily to Education, Research, Innovation, Art and Design. SHARE Boston is, due to its particular mission, a joint operation of the State Secretariat for Education and Research of the Swiss Federal Department of the Interior and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. SHARE Boston is part of a global network of Swiss Science & Technology Offices (STO) and forms, together with the Office of Science and Technology of the Swiss Embassy in Washington D.C. and the swissnex in San Francisco, the official Swiss Science Network in North America, which has additional presences at the Swiss Embassy in Washington D. C. and at the Swiss Consulate General in San Francisco, operating under the name of swissnex in separate premises. According to its particular mission, SHARE Boston does not issue passports or visas. Located in the heart of San Francisco, Swissnex was initiated by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education and Research (SER) as a public-private venture, and managed in cooperation with the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs. Swissnex connects the best of many worlds by bridging the knowledge, energy and competences of Switzerland, the U.S.A. and Canada.
